FRANKFORT, KY (January 28, 2019) – Native Kentuckian, Sheri Donahue, filed with the Secretary of State’s office as a Democratic candidate for Kentucky State Auditor of Public Accounts on Monday. Ms. Donahue is a graduate of Purdue University and has served over 20 years as a leader in Security and Intelligence for the U.S. Navy, working with multiple intelligence agencies, including the Department of Defense.
“One of my highest priorities is ensuring we are taking all necessary precautions at all levels of government to protect our elections from any outside influences,” stated Ms. Donahue. “Never has there been a time when it was more apparent our government needs, at all levels, to focus on our technological security. But that must be balanced with transparency to the public and requires excellent coordination between local, state and federal government.”
Sheri Donahue went on to state that she will be implementing a statewide system for complaints by the public and anonymous government employees, much like she did while working with the FBI and Homeland Security. Donahue continued by saying she plans to focus much of her attention on waste, fraud, and abuse within all levels of Kentucky government, much like her work with the Department of Defense and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“I know, first-hand, the modern challenges that face us as a society,” Donahue said. “As your State Auditor, I will be dedicated to the security and transparency of our government, and will be tireless in rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse in our government, and specifically our pension system.”
